Opposition and contradiction are the themes in this work, and Purgatory is the place where radicaly opposed values such as good / evil come together.
The image of Purgatory is taken in a totally conceptual way: the common space where these oppositions take place and produce the feeling of ambiguity; Purgatory as the break up of Maniquean duality.
